You probably also have a jar of cinnamon in your kitchen. This spice, which comes from the cinnamon tree, adds a lot of flavour to a dish. But did you also know that cinnamon has many health benefits? We have listed them for you:
1. Cinnamon is full of antioxidants
Cinnamon is full of polyphenols; these are antioxidants that help your body resist oxidation caused by free radicals. These free radicals cause the ageing process. Therefore it is said that antioxidants can delay the ageing process. Also, it is thought that antioxidants can offer protection against cardiovascular disease, but this is not yet fully proven. But that does not mean that antioxidants are crucial for your body.
2. Cinnamon lowers blood sugar
Research has shown that cinnamon has blood sugar lowering effect. Cinnamon contributes to the less rapid absorption of carbohydrates, so you have fewer spikes in your blood sugar level. When peaks in your blood sugar level, you have to intervene to restore this, so cinnamon can make sure that less is needed. Because your mirror stays more stable, you will also be less in the mood for sweet snacks.
3. Cinnamon has an anti-inflammatory effect
Inflammation is significant for your body. They help your body fight infection. However, it becomes a problem if inflammation is long-lasting, then cinnamon can help. Studies have shown that active substances from cinnamon prevent inflammation in your body.
4. Cinnamon can help against bad breath
It has antimicrobial effects; this can help to reduce bad breath. It is unfortunately not the case that after eating a lot of garlic, you can do the cinnamon challenge and then smell nice and fresh again. It helps especially if you suffer from bad breath for longer. You can dissolve that some cinnamon in a glass of water every day and gargle it around in your mouth, then after a few days, you can already notice an improvement in your breath.
5. Cinnamon is good for your memory
